-Patiala: A patient’s awareness seminar on illnesses and ICU care in the region was organized at PARK Hospital Patiala on Friday.

Later addressing a press conference a team of PARK Hospital Patiala including Dr Vikas Vashisth director critical care, Dr Vivek Sharma senior consultant critical care, Dr Swati Patel consultant critical care  and Dr Brampraksah VP medical operations and Col Rajul Sharma CEO shared information about various facts and myths regarding critical care services  & ventilation.

Dr Vikas Vashisth said, “India has 2.3 Critical care Beds per 100000, which is significantly lower than western countries. Critical or intensive care is the diagnosis or management of life-threatening health conditions that often require life – support systems. The facilities in these units are considered to be the best and most technologically advanced that a hospital can offer.

Dr Swati Patel said that PARK Hospital Patiala has over 80 critical care beds functioning, which is highest in Patiala city. The Park Hospitals  is now also  offering advanced critical care services under one roof with the backup of all super-specialties.

PARK Hospitals is North India’s  biggest super specialty hospital network with 19 hospitals , 3500 beds, 800 ICU beds , 14 cath labs, 45 modular OTs  and over 1000 doctors.

Dr Vivek said that “With the rising incidents of new age infections & life style diseases, tropical infections like dengue, chikungunya, swine flu, pneumonia asthma, COPD, kidney failure, multiorgan failure , liver failure, stroke, CKD, respiratory distress coupled with rising burden require adequate ICU care.

Dr Bramh Prakash said that changing demographics that yield a higher proportion of geriatric individuals in the overall population will further increase the burden on supply side infrastructure.

Col Rajul Sharma shared that PARK Hospital Patiala is now empaneled with ECHS, CGHS, ESI, Ayushman and all major corporates and all types of critical care are offered under one roof at Park Hospital, Patiala.
