-Chandigarh, September 22: In a vibrant initiative to empower young girls, The Touch Clinic, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in collaboration with the Vascular Society for Limb Salvage (VSLS), hosted a social event titled ‘Touch: Tweens & Teens’ at the Hyatt Regency in Chandigarh. This event was aimed to foster awareness and spark meaningful conversations around health and well-being for the next generation of women.
“The idea was to equip participants who were mainly a group of 100 mother- daughter duos with valuable knowledge for their journeys ahead. What’s interesting is that the ‘daughters’ in the group aged 8-24 were delivered by gynaecologists of The Touch Clinic and were present with their moms. This made the activity very special and emotional for us,” said Dr. (Prof.) Preeti Jindal, MD, DNB, MRCOG (U.K.), FICOG, and Director of The Touch Clinic, Mohali. It is to be noted that Dr Preeti is also General Secretary of Indian Society of Aesthetic & Reconstructive Gynaecology (InSARG) and a Professor in the Department of Clinical Embryology & Reproductive Genetics at Rayat Bahra University, Punjab. She is the Past President of Mohali Obstetrics & Gynaecology Society (MOHOGS).
Dr Preeti addressed the media on the side-lines of the event and was joined by The Touch Clinic’s Dr Ridhi Kalra, Dr Sumitu Sahdev, Dr Pragati, Dr Muskan & Ms. Aanchal Vashisht.
Dr Preeti informed that a Mother-Daughter Ramp Walk Competition was held. She said that a charitable ramp-walk also took place that showcased fashion for a social cause. Nitika Singla, Nisha Chug, Vinita Grover, Ishika & Mr. Sarabjit Singh supported the noble cause. Notably, the owner of Jaypee Publishing House Jitender P. Vij also graced the occasion.
“The funds collected at the charity ramp walk will be donated for helping underprivileged girls, who are in need of medical help due to different health conditions”, said Dr Preeti.
Aprajita Sharma a Miss India Finalist trained and also choreographed the ladies who took part in the charity walk. Shriya Singla from Shevone provided the dresses for the ramp walk.
Meanwhile, the event featured a sessions covering topics like cancer prevention, menstrual hygiene, sexual health, reproductive health, career counselling etc. A self-defence workshop was held to make girls aware about the need to protect themselves from sexual or other assaults.
Dr Preeti led an engaging session on Adolescent Health, Anti-Aging, Laser Hair Removal, and Perimenopausal health. It is to be noted that ‘Perimenopausal’ refers to the time during which a woman’s body makes the natural transition to menopause, marking the end of the reproductive years.
Dr Preeti said, “We imparted knowledge about adolescent health which is crucial for young girls as it lays the foundation for lifelong well-being. Understanding physical and emotional changes helps them navigate life with confidence.”
Dr Preeti added, “Perimenopausal health is not just a transition—it’s a journey of self-discovery and resilience, in which knowledge and compassionate care are of pivotal importance.”
In an interesting talk Garima Singh(IRS) Commissioner of Income Tax(Audit), NW Region spoke on empowerment of young girls.A session on makeup tips by Rashmeet Kapoor, Owner of Hairmasters, was also organised.
The event saw young girls taking part in singing, painting & dance competitions too. Awards were given for the competitions, along with accolades for Best Dressed, Best Painting, Best Hairdo, Best Accessories, and the Best Mother-Daughter Coordination.
