Chandigarh, June 16, 2023: Witnessing the dawn of a remarkable green movement that transcends boundaries and inspires collective action, Guardians of the Green ’23 inaugurated its first chapter at the Hyatt Regency in Chandigarh on Friday. This pioneering initiative, organized by SIA in collaboration with Chhapai.Com, Back to Source, and Mammals and More, aimed to usher in a wave of environmental sustainability in Chandigarh, bringing together visionaries, thought leaders, and change-makers to champion the cause of preserving our planet.

The event featured captivating keynote sessions delivered by esteemed Chief Guest and Ambassador Dr. Deepak Vohra, currently serving as Special Advisor in Africa, along with notable speakers such as Mr. Ashish Vasudeva from Hewlett Packard, Professor (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Vig, Chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board, Dr. Mirza M. Arif, a Research Scientist, and Professor Siby John from Punjab Engineering College.

Dr. Deepak Vohra expressed his appreciation for the event, stating, “Guardians of the Green serves as a poignant reminder of our duty to protect and preserve our planet for future generations. The passion and dedication exhibited at this event are truly inspiring, propelling us towards a more sustainable world.”

Rajesh Batra, the founder of Chhapai.Com and SIA (Sustainability Innovator Awards), highlighted the significance of Guardians of the Green ’23, stating, “Through its numerous chapters across India and internationally, Guardians of the Green will inspire, educate, and empower individuals and organizations to actively safeguard our planet. Together, we can forge a greener, more sustainable world.”

Munish Aggarwal, founder of Back to Source Cafe, shared his association with the event, saying, “In alignment with the spirit of Guardians of the Green, we unite as stewards of the Earth, driven by a common purpose to protect and restore our natural resources. Only together can we build a future where sustainability is not merely an option but a way of life.”

Gurbaksh Singh and Gurmilan Kaur, co-founders of Mammals and More and co-curators of the event, echoed Munish’s sentiments, emphasizing that this chapter of Guardians of the Green is just the beginning. They expressed their commitment to organizing various other movements in the future to promote sustainable actions in the beautiful city of Chandigarh.

“The diverse gathering of individuals, united in their dedication to sustainability, showcases Chandigarh’s readiness to embark on a journey towards sustainability, starting from the smallest actions like our bathroom faucets and plastic brushes,” they emphasized.

The event also featured two insightful panel discussions as part of Guardians of the Green ’23, focusing on the subjects of “Sustainable Startups: Innovating for a Greener Future” and “Influencer Impact: Leveraging Social Media for Sustainable Change.”
