Chandigarh, December 17: “The people of Chandigarh had elected BJP in the last MC poll, what in return they got from BJP, inflated bills, pollution, contaminated water and once called ‘The City, Beautiful’ is ranked down to 66th position in Swachh Sarvekshan. This is a shocker given to the residents of Chandigarh who once had shown confidence in BJP but made their life miserable by bringing down the city on every civic amenity index”, while stating this during a press conference at Chandigarh Congress Bhawan, Sector 35 here on Friday, Pawan Khera the national Spokesperson of Congress said that BJP leaders should first seek apology from Chandigarh people for their misdeeds committed in past 6 years and then seek their votes in upcoming elections.
“What has become of the city beautiful now? It’s beyond imagination to see its current pathetic condition. Never ever have the condition of roads been so worse in the city. The garbage hills are so high that one can fancy falling of snowfall on it”, said Khera.
The cleanliness in the City for which the city was once known as front runner, looks like a distant dream now. The taxes are galore and the public welfare agenda has seemed to have taken the back seat.
In fact BJP has played with the sentiments of the public by taking them as granted and changed the basic narrative of this amazing city which was known as a model and beautiful city all over world, he maintained.
“Ironically national leaders of BJP alongwith CMs from various states are in the city campaigning and asking people to vote and support for BJP. What type of circus is this going on? Had BJP performed up to the mark of people’s expectation, the party would not have required such a huge brigade of bigwigs. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, under whose leadership BJP party faced defeat in bye polls in the state recently has now come to Chandigarh so see defeat of BJP here also. Former Uttarakhand CM, Trivendra Singh Rawat who was removed by BJP itself is also campaigning in the city.” he remarked.
“In fact, the BJP does not care for the needs of the general public, only it is bothered about securing its victory by hook or crook. But on seeing their defeats in recent bye polls, Modi led government in the centre reduced fuel prices. They have now taken back 3 draconian agricultural black laws, over which we saw a world’s biggest protest of millions of farmers sitting on the borders of Delhi for a year, over 700 persons died during the protest, but Prime Minister Modi remained unconcerned. The only thing which BJP is concerned about is fear of defeat in polls. We salute Chandigarh people for their support extended in farmers’ protest. We were amazed to see how Chandigarh people who used to stand on roundabouts in support of farmers and welcomed farmers on their return from Delhi borders after they forced the government to take back three laws.” Khera said.
He further stressed that, “They only know about divide and rule politics, they will keep people busy in religious issues, so that people should not ask about civic amenities which are actually meant for common folks.”
“The issues can’t be resolved with dispute but through dialogues,” he said.
Even during Covid pandemic times, BJP didn’t do anything but let people die on roads and without oxygen. NDA as we generally called it as ‘No Data Available’, didn’t offer any compensation to the public. Ironically, Chandigarh BJP ruled MC, instead of reducing or waiving of property taxes, water tariffs etc. as the imminent need of the time, increased the taxed manifold, so much so more taxes in the name of Covid Cess and Cow cess were imposed on the residents but the same were not utilized for their objective. Whereas Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is pushing for 4 lakh compensation for those who died of Covid under National disaster Act, he said.
As we read in news that yesterday while addressing a poll rally for BJP Manoj Tiwari aka “Rinkia ke papa” demanded that he could be invited to sing. Similarly Narinder Modi can only give speeches and make false promises. It’s only the Congress party which knows how to run the country for the welfare of its countrymen. In the past we did it successfully and in future too we will do, he asserted.
