The quarterfinals of the inaugural Aeroplaza Panchkula Golf League teed off on a vibrant note at the Panchkula Golf Club on Friday. The quarter final matches showcased intense competition and set the tone for a thrilling conclusion to the league.
The quarter final fixture between ‘Sneakin Golfers’ and ‘Green Warriors’ saw a keen contest. ‘Sneakin Golfers’ defeated ‘Green Warriors’ 3-2 by winning 3 games out of the five. The final game was decided on the 18th hole where octogenarian Col A N Sharma from ‘Sneakin Golfers’ holed a 45 ft putt to seal their victory.
In another quarter final clash, ‘Victory Waves’ overcame ‘Raging Bulls’ to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. ‘Victory waves’ was tied against ‘Raging Bulls’ with both teams winning 2 games each and halving the 5th game. The match then went into a sudden death playoff and ‘Victory Waves’ won on the 2nd hole of the playoff and eventually won the match, thus qualifying for the Semi Finals.
In another encounter ‘Golfing Panthers’ got the better of ‘Tee Birds’ winning the match 3-2. ‘Golfing Panthers’ won 3 of the 5 games outright to win the tie. In another game ‘Highland Kings’ displayed skillful golf to beat ‘Golfing Eagles’ 3-2.
Earlier, eight teams that had advanced to the knockout stage of the Aeroplaza Panchkula Golf League were – Victory Waves, Highland Kings, Golfing Panthers, Sneakin Golfers, Green Warriors, Golfing Eagles, Tee Birds, and Raging Bulls.
While the semis of Aeroplaza Panchkula Golf League, managed by Digraj Golf Inc., will be held on April 20, the final shall be held on April 23, 2025. The final promises to be a grand culmination of the tournament’s inaugural edition.
