-Chandigarh:– Under the 10-day Swachhata Abhiyan being run by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh across the city, a cleanliness drive was conducted in City Garden of Sector 9 and Shivalik Garden in Manimajra on the eighth day today. Social organizations Don Bosco Navjeevan Society and Onkar Charitable Foundation are also giving equal support in this campaign. On this occasion, Area Councilor, Father Reji Tom of Don Bosco Navjeevan Society and his team and Chairman of Onkar Charitable Foundation Ravinder Singh Billa and his team, officials of MOH and Horticulture Department and local people were present.

Area Councilor from Sector 9 Maheshinder Singh Sidhu said that Swachhata Abhiyan is an important program run by Municipal Corporation Chandigarh from 04 August. Its aim is to make the city clean and healthy. Under this campaign, people are made aware of the importance of cleanliness and they are motivated to keep the environment around them clean. He also thanked the children of Don Bosco Navjivan Society, who are not only cleaning all the parks and green belts of the city, but are also making people aware of cleanliness.
Area Councilor of Manimajra, Darshana Devi said that the aim of the Swachhata Abhiyan is to promote cleanliness in the city. Also, to make people aware of the importance of cleanliness and motivate them to keep the environment around them clean. Another important objective of the Swachhata Abhiyan is to improve the health of the people. Many diseases spread due to lack of cleanliness, which can be prevented through Swachhata Abhiyan. Swachhata Abhiyan also plays an important role in environmental protection. In the absence of cleanliness, the environment gets polluted, which causes many problems. These small children of Don Bosco Navjivan Society are also making the same effort.
On the Swachhata Abhiyan, Chairman of Onkar Charitable Foundation, Ravindra Singh Billa said that through the Swachhata Abhiyan, people get an opportunity to live a healthy life. Through the Swachhata Abhiyan, the environment remains clean, due to which people get clean air and water.
