Chandigarh, September 13: Surinder Verma, Chairman of Citizen Awareness Group and Editor-in-Chief of Mirror 365 and Chandigarh Today was felicitated by His Excellency Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria during a program to mark the first anniversary of the Senior Journalists Forum at Law Bhawan, Sector 37 on Sunday.
The felicitation recognises Verma’s over three decades of sustained work towards social awareness, public welfare and citizen advocacy. Citizen Awareness Group, which was registered in 1994 has over the years undertaken initiatives aimed at promoting financial literacy, consumer awareness, health awareness and highlighting issues and problems faced by citizens across the country.
The organisation’s work has received recognition from several distinguished personalities including a former Vice President of India, Ambassadors and Governors.
Verma later expanded his work in the media space with the establishment of digital media platforms Mirror 365.com and ChandigarhToday.org in 2015 which has gained recognition in media circles.
Speaking on the occasion, Verma said the recognition was a source of encouragement to continue working for greater public awareness and social welfare. He credited the success of Citizen Awareness Group to the support and participation of citizens, social organisations and well-wishers associated with its journey over the years.
