A memorable event was organised at Sec 43 Community Centre, organised by Human Rights Council India and Co hosted by Punjab State and Chandigarh UT Human Rights Commission.

There was a well attended gathering of residents of Ward 23, Sec 34-35-43. 

Padma Shri Jatinder Singh Shanty , Member PSHRC was the Chief Guest along with other staff and members of NGOs, Open Public hearing session was held in which officers of all UT Admn departments were present to hear the public grievances and to resolve these complaints through their respective departments.

There was a galaxy of prominent personalities from different fields who have earned so high respect in society with their life long contribution towards this noble cause. 

In this function 25 members from RWA and other Organisations were honored, 

including Prof. P S Nirola a veteran film director and Writer.

The top brass of Chandigarh UT Administration including ADC to DC, SP City, ADC to SDM South, Health Deppt, Forest Deptt,Head UT Protocol and DTO were also present. 

HRCI National President Mrs. Aarti Rajput along with other members attended the function and talked on issues faced by NGOs. 

Local Councillor Smt. Prem Lata, President and Gen Secy of RWA Sector 35 were also present there as guests of honour. 

Councillor Prem Lata raised the selling of drugs in the Southern Sectors by the road side vendors.

Complaints regarding late night opening of Liquor shops, bad road condit in many areas, Traffic problems and transportation issues were also raised by the audience.

The keynote speech was delivered by prominent Advocate and Human Rights activist Rajvinder Singh Bains on the topic Violation of Human Rights by the government authorities and agencies, giving a brief account of incidents including most talked Jaswant Singh Khalra case and alleged fake encounters.

Sh. Jatinder Singh Shanty with his team and HRCI President Mrs. Aarti Rajput and Sh. Amarjeet Singh Virk along with other members launched Campaigning against Drug abuse and released a combined statement to protect the fundamental Human Rights of citizens of Chandigarh and Punjab through their Organization. Sh.Jitender Singh Shanty heard the graveness of public and assured to get these resolved.

The function was well attended by elite audience from tricity. Anchor Jasleen Kaur Gill held the stage and award given ceremony very gracefully.

Amarjeet Singh Virk said that this was first ever such event organised by their Organization HRCI and PSHRC to promote awareness among the people in Chandigarh. More such programs would be organised in the next few months.
