-Chandigarh: 18th July, 2025: The Computer Centre of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, successfully organized an ICT Training Program for Officials from the Police Department of Chandigarh from 20th June, 2025 to 18th July, 2025. This intensive training program aimed to strengthen the digital competencies of police officials, enabling them to adapt to modern technological advancements and incorporate ICT tools into their day-to-day operations. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sunita Mehta, Course Coordinator and Dr. Sanjay Batish, Head, Computer Centre, who acted as the Nodal Officer. The sessions were conducted by a dedicated team of experts including Sh. Sushil Kumar, Sh. Prabhsimran Singh Bindra, Sh. Sandeep Pathak, and Sh. Tejinder Singh, who provided hands-on training covering both theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

The course content included foundational topics such as Computer Fundamentals, where participants learned about hardware, software, drivers, and file formats, building a base for further technical learning. Training on e-Governance Portals like eHRMS, DigiLocker, GeM, PFMS, and the National Digital Library was provided to familiarize officials with digital government services and promote transparent, efficient governance practices. Practical proficiency was enhanced through sessions on MS Office Applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, empowering the officials with the tools needed for effective documentation, data analysis, and official communication.

Participants were also trained in Internet and Cloud Applications, including Google Drive, Docs and Forms. This module emphasized secure online collaboration, data storage, and virtual communication methods essential for modern policing.
The course covered Networking Basics and Cybersecurity Awareness, highlighting the importance of safe internet practices, data backups, protection against malware, and password security. Given the increasing reliance on digital devices, officials were also briefed on Mobile Technology, including smartphone features, operating systems, and the basics of Android application development. This training program reflects Punjab Engineering College’s commitment to capacity building and digital literacy for government officials. By equipping police personnel with these ICT skills, the program aims to foster improved governance, efficient service delivery, and adoption of technology in public service sectors
