Chandigarh, September 5, 2026: The Legal Fairways Foundation, in association with DLF organised the inaugural Law Alumni Golf Championship (LAGC) 2026 – India’s first inter-law school alumni golf championship at Chandigarh Golf Club(CGC). The championship brought together lawyers, judges, corporate counsel and legal professionals from leading law schools and universities across the country at the prestigious CGC on Saturday. As many as 18 leading law schools and universities participated in the inaugural edition.

The one-day championship was played in the Double Peoria Net format. Teams from Delhi dominated the day. In the team category Campus Law Centre (CLC) DU’s Team 2 comprising Ankush Das, Inderbir Singh Alag, Ravi Nanda, & Mrinal Bharti were declared winners.  CLC DU’s Team 1 comprising J P Sengh, Sudhanshu Batra, Harkirat Sawhney and Sitesh Mukherjee were 1st Runners-Up while the 2nd Runners-Up position was taken by National Law University(NLU), Delhi, comprising Dhruv Gupta, Keerat Dhillon, Akal Brar & Precious Kelson.

Speaking on the occasion, Amardeep Singh Sukhija, President, The Legal Fairways Foundation, said: “The championship was conceived as a unique platform to foster sportsmanship, camaraderie and lifelong professional relationships among members of the legal fraternity beyond the courtroom.”

Tarun Vir Singh Lehal, Vice President, The Legal Fairways Foundation, said, “The response to the first edition has been extremely encouraging. Golf provides the perfect setting for interaction, fellowship and healthy competition, and we look forward to making LAGC a larger and more inclusive national event in the years ahead.”

Meanwhile in the Judges Individual Category (Gross) – Justice Alok Jain (81) was the winner, Justice B S Walia (82) the 1st Runner-Up and Justice P S Chauhan (83) the 2nd Runner-Up.

In the Judges Individual Category (Net) – Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal was the winner, Justice Mahesh Grover, the 1st Runner-Up and Justice Arun Monga the 2nd Runner-Up.

In the Judges’ Category the Longest Drive winner was Justice Arun Monga, Nearest to Pin winner was Justice Amit Rawal and the Straightest Drive title went to Justice Jaishree Thakur.

In the Lawyers’ Individual Category(Gross) – Arjun Singh Rai (UILS, Chandigarh Team 1) with a Gross of 75 was adjudged winner on the best Back 9 score of 36; Jaiveer Sandhu (UILS Chandigarh Team 1) also with 75 was declared 1st Runner-Up (Back 9 score of 40) and Karmanbir Singh Kharbanda (OP Jindal) with a gross score of 78 clinched the 2nd Runner-Up position.

In Lawyers’ Individual Category(Net) – Vidushpat Singhania- GLC Bombay (65) was the winner; Nishant Prasad – NALSAR (66) the 1st Runner-Up and Akal Brar –NLU Delhi (67) the 2nd Runner-Up.

In lawyers’ category the Longest Drive went to Ramandeep Singh, Straightest Drive title was bagged by Shitesh Mukherjee and Nearest to Pin went to Jaiveer Sandhu.  

It is worth noting that The Legal Fairways Foundation was established with the vision of creating an enduring platform “Where Law Meets the Fairway”, enabling legal professionals and alumni of premier institutions to connect, collaborate and celebrate their shared professional and sporting interests.

The Foundation’s office bearers include Amardeep Singh Sukhija (President), Tarun Vir Singh Lehal (Vice President), Gurmandeep Singh Sullar (Secretary) and Deepak Bhardwaj (Treasurer). The Foundation’s team also includes Abhilaksh Grover, Gaurav Gurcharan Singh Rai, Anmol Partap Singh Mann, Amrinder Singh, Varun Tandon and Gurmohan Singh Bedi.

Notably the Alumni teams from the following Law Schools took part – Punjab University, UILS, NLSIU, AIL, Symbiosis, CLC/DU, NLU Delhi, NLU Bhopal, NALSAR, GLC, NLU Jodhpur, HP University, Amity Delhi, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, OP Jindal,  APS- MP, KU, and Punjabi University, Patiala.

The following corporates contributed to the success of the tournament by partnering with the same – DLF, GD Group, AKAI, UltraLite, KazarMax Premium, Darja, Lehalco, Gregnorman, Barista, Vivo X300 Series, Nik Bakers, Hair Masters, Globe Toyota, Golfasian, Kairali and NiB.
