Mohali May 18: The Punjab government is continuously fulfilling the promises made to the people and large number of development projects are being continuously inaugurated. Security of the people of the state is also being ensured from various aspects.

This was stated by the Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar while inaugurating the Fire Service Training Institute, Directorate of Fire Service (Field) and Fire Station at Sector 78, which has been constructed at the cost of Rs 04 crore.

On this occasion, he also laid the foundation stone of the building of Fire Service Training Institute and Directorate of Fire Services at the same place at the cost of around 16 crore rupees.

Addressing the event, Dr. Nijjar disclosed that these type of institutions were operating in various states but Punjab was lacking in this facility. About 1.75 acres of land was alloted for this project. A new building is to be constructed at the same place under the second phase and a fire service training institute and a fire station would be established in 20 acres of land at Lalru under the third phase where sports stadium, swimming pool, staff accommodation and training buildings would be established. He said that through these institutions, high level training would be provided regarding fire services and these institutions would also create a large number of employment opportunities.

Dr. Nijjar said that this institute will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, high level and experienced staff and national level training facilities. With the help of these the fire services in the state will improve further and the capacity to deal with untoward incidents would also increase. He said that the Punjab government is committed to solve all the problems of all the personnel related with fire services. No stone would be left unturned in this regard.
