The Applause Entertainment’s first feature film, The Rapist, received an ‘applause’ from the audience that was nothing less than thunderous. Because of the success of Criminal Justice, Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, and Scam 1992, Applause Entertainment’s first movie, The Rapist, has been a worldwide sensation. Aparna Sen, a national award-winning director, and Applause Entertainment, in collaboration with Quest Films Pvt. Ltd., produced ‘The Rapist,’ a movie that has been extremely popular at Indian and international film festivals.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will screen ‘The Rapist’ in August, after it was shown at Busan International Film Festival, London Indian Film Festival, Kolkata International Film Festival, International Film Festival of Kerala, and other events. ‘The Rapist’ has been nominated for ‘Best Film,’ ‘Best Director,’ and ‘Best Actress’ at the IFFM, in addition to ‘Best Film.’ It previously won the Kim Jiseok Award at Busan.
The film ‘The Rapist’ delves into the nature of rape, the mindset of its perpetrators, and the suffering that follows. mother-daughter team Aparna Sen-Konkona Sen Sharma reunite after several successful films, including National Award winner ‘ Mr. And Mrs. Iyer.’
