Delhi- 16 April : Mr Inder Mohan Singh, President of Dashmesh Sewa Society (Regd) and Ex Member of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) asked the Central Government to open the Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for devotees. He said that this corridor was built with the mutual co-operation of Indian and Pakistan government through which the Indian devotees can visit this holy historical shrine without obtaining Pakistani Visa. Though it is mandatory to get permission from Indian Government through E.T.A., whereas devotees visiting the shrine through this corridor are not allowed to stay overnight in Pakistan. Pertinent to mention that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent nearly 18 years of his last span of life and proceeded to heaven from this place. There is memory of last rites of Guru as well as Samadhi built by the Muslim community apart from a historical water well then built by Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji for cultivation. Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that
due to some friction in cordial relations between India and Pakistan, this corridor has been closed for devotees since long time due to which the devotees are deprived from paying their tributes in this Gurdwara, though the Indian devotees are allowed by the Pakistan Government to visit this Gurdwara via Lahore whenever they visit Pakistan in group Jathas on the eve of Gurpurabs from time to time.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh made an appeal to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India through a letter to re-open the Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor on priority basis so that the Guru Nanak Namleva devotees can pay tributes to their Guruopenly as allowed in the past.
