Presided over the review meeting of officers to deal with flood-like situation in the monsoon season.
Panchkula (Vishal Malhotra) -Deputy Commissioner Monica Gupta said that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated during the monsoon season. She directed the officers of all the concerned departments that all departments should work seriously to deal with the flood situation in the district so that any untoward incident can be prevented.
Deputy Commissioner Monica Gupta was presiding over the review meeting of officers held in the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat on Tuesday regarding flood control measures and available resources.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of the Irrigation Department to give continuous updates regarding the water level of the rivers and share correct information by continuously monitoring.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all the officers including the Superintendent Engineer, Executive Engineer should complete the works related to their respective departments as soon as possible. He said that people should not face any kind of problem. He said that the drains in the corporation and municipal council area should be cleaned regularly so that the water can drain out properly.
The Deputy Commissioner took detailed information about the resources available in the district to deal with the flood situation in the district. He learned about the resources available with the district administration, NDRF and the army and instructed the officers to always be ready to deal with any emergency. The Deputy Commissioner took detailed information from the concerned departments about the cleaning of drains and sewers in Kalka.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to not go near the rivers and canals
Deputy Commissioner Monica Gupta appealed to the people not to go near the rivers and canals during the rainy season and to take precautions so that any kind of untoward incident can be avoided. He directed the officials of the irrigation department and police department to install sign boards to warn people not to go to places where the danger is high. He also directed the police department officials to increase patrolling during this period and set up check posts in such accident prone areas and alert people.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the irrigation department and other related departments should install sign boards at places where waterlogging occurs. He also directed that the police department should also install check posts at the said places and stop people from bathing and going near these places.
The Deputy Commissioner took information regarding the preparations in case of landslides and road erosion in the rainy season in the hilly areas. During this, the PWD officials informed that along with the deployment of JCB machines of the department in areas like Morni, Raipurrani and Thapali, arrangements for pipes have also been made. Also, employees have been deployed at all places. The Deputy Commissioner directed to repair the road as soon as possible and make proper arrangements for the drainage of water in case of road erosion.
While reviewing the disaster management measures, Deputy Commissioner Monica Gupta directed the health department officials that there should be adequate medicines and injections available in the primary health centers to prevent diseases like dengue and malaria. She also enquired about other arrangements from the health department officials.
