-Chandigarh, July 28, 2025: Sarbani Dutta has been appointed as the new President of the Inner Wheel Club Chandigarh City Beautiful. Other appointments within the club include Zonal Club Coordinator Usha Sharma, Vice President Varinder Kaur, Project Coordinator and Immediate Past President Anita Middha, Secretary Kulvinder Kaur, Treasurer Monica Gupta, ISO Suman Gupta, and Editor Nisha. The club is one of the most active women-led social organizations in the region.
After becoming President, Sarbani Dutta expressed her deep commitment to social service and shared her vision for the future.
Sarbani stated that she has always believed in the principle of “Seva Parmo Dharmah”* (Service is the highest duty). “When I witnessed inequality and struggle in society up close, I dedicated my life to improving others’ lives through community-based service,” she said.
She emphasized that the club’s mission is to support women, children, and marginalized communities, particularly those grappling with poverty, domestic violence, and lack of access to education and healthcare.
Sarbani also highlighted the challenges involved in social work — including limited resources, bureaucratic delays, and deeply ingrained social mindsets. “Sometimes, changing mindsets is harder than changing policy,” she noted.
Sharing a moving experience, Anita Midha Project Coordinator recounted how she helped girls who were abandoned simply because they were daughters. “Providing them with education and care has been incredibly meaningful to me — it constantly reminds me how essential it is to change society’s perception of daughters.”
Speaking on building trust in sensitive situation Usha Sharma Zonal club Coordinator she said, “Listening without judgment, being consistently present, and respecting people’s dignity — that’s how trust is earned.”
To understand community needs, Virendar Kaur Vice President said the club conducts home surveys, field visits, and direct conversations with people. She stressed that along with data, personal interaction is crucial.
To cope with emotional fatigue and stress, she advocates for peer support, Nisha editor of the club prioritizing mental health, and personal reflection. “I write, I reflect, and I keep myself connected to purpose.”
Sarbani credited her dedicated team, emphasizing that social change is a collective effort — “The more hands that join together, the stronger the impact.” Monika Gupta the treasure also called for urgent attention to issues such as gender inequality, lack of quality education, and mental health — especially in rural areas.
To those aspiring to pursue a career in social service, Kulwinder Kaur secretary said in her message : “Start from the heart, but strengthen it with training. Change takes time — but every moment is worth it.”
