Chandigarh, May 28, 2025: Suvyan ’25, the Graduation Showcase of the Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) Textile Design Department, Batch 2022–2025, commenced at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh. NIIFT, in cooperation with the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh, is organizing the show, which will be staged from May 28 to May 30, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

Sh. Kamal Kishor Yadav, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Punjab-cum-Chairman, NIIFT, stated in a statement, “The commitment to excellence of NIIFT is reflected in the depth and innovativeness of the collections. Suvyan ’25 captures the future of design as it redraws the boundaries between heritage and modernity.”

Meanwhile, Smt. Surabhi Malik, IAS, Director, Industries & Commerce, Managing Director, PSIEC & Director General, NIIFT, opened the exhibition.

It is encouraging to discover young minds converting academic knowledge into impactful, marketable designs. Suvyan is a space where imagination converges with purpose, and I am pleased to promote such young designers.

The exhibit comprises the collections created by the students during their 5-month industrial training with leading fashion and textile houses like Blackberrys, Vardhman, Shades of India, Shree, Ganga Acrowools, Nahar Fabrics, Tissage Rugs, and Triburg. The collections include garments as well as home furnishings and integrate a blend of innovation, material experimentation, and cultural storytelling.

Dr. Kanu Thind, PCS, NIIFT Director, asserted, “The showcase is a strong declaration of design education, which believes in both functional as well as aesthetic excellence.” S. Ramandeep Singh, Registrar, NIIFT, said, “‘Suvyan ’25’ captures the intellectual discipline and innovative spirit that is cultivated in NIIFT’s students. The platform prepares them well to enter the professional world with confidence in the domain of textiles and design.”

Dr. Simrita Singh, Principal, NIIFT, said, “‘Suvyan ’25’ is a reflection of our students’ design journey as well as their preparedness to contribute to the industry in a meaningful way.”

The event was guided by mentorship from Dr. Shweta Sharma, Head of Department (HOD), Suvyan Coordinator, Textile Design, and Dr. Meeta Gawri, HOD, Fashion Marketing & Management, under whom the industry-oriented vision of the students was molded.

Dr. Shweta Sharma, Textile Design Department Head, said, “Every collection is a reflection of passion, discipline, and storytelling. Suvyan ’25 is a great platform for up-and-coming designers to enter the world of the textile industry.”

Ms. Isha Kamboj, HCS (Director, Government Museum & Art Gallery), was also there.

The following awards were given by a panel of expert industry people: ‘The Best Design Project’ award went to Shreya, the ‘Most Commercial Collection’ award was given to Shobita and Asmita, and the ‘Jury Special Award’ was awarded to Nipun and Ishika.
