Chandigarh, October 27: Rapido has secured the reinstatement of its aggregator licence in Chandigarh, with the company claiming that it is currently the only platform in the city holding a valid aggregator licence.
According to the company, the licence was reinstated by the Secretary, Transport, acting as the appellate authority, following an appeal against the order of the State Transport Authority (STA). After providing all parties a fair opportunity to be heard, the authority ruled in Rapido’s favour and restored its licence.
The development comes after aggregator licences of major platforms operating in Chandigarh were suspended between June and August. With the reinstatement, Rapido can continue operating its services in the city under a valid licence.
The decision is expected to ensure continuity of mobility services for commuters, who will continue to have access to convenient and affordable transportation options. It will also enable Rapido Captains to continue accessing flexible earning opportunities through the platform.
Focus on regulatory compliance
Sanil Shah, Director – Operations, Rapido, welcomed the decision and thanked the Chandigarh administration for ensuring a fair and thorough hearing.
He said the reinstatement reinforced the company’s commitment to complying with applicable regulations. He added that Rapido would continue working with the Chandigarh administration and relevant stakeholders to meet the city’s mobility needs while providing accessible and affordable transportation services and supporting the livelihoods of its Captains.
Rapido said it remains committed to strengthening an inclusive mobility ecosystem that connects commuters with convenient transport options while creating flexible earning opportunities for its Captains.
