-Set up with a staggering ₹300 crore investment, the unit has a ‘Zero Dependence’ on Chinese imports
Chandigarh, June 22, 2025: In a major push towards ‘Make in India’ and ‘Viksit Bharat,’ Tynor Orthotics, India’s biggest manufacturer of orthopaedic aids, has set up a state-of-the-art textile manufacturing unit – Ortech Textiles – in Mohali, Punjab.
The facility, built under a backward integration model, will cater to all raw material needs of Tynor Orthotics, and is spread over six acres and established with a ₹300 crore investment including land, infrastructure, and advanced machinery.
The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Chief Guest Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Punjab’s Minister for Industries, IT and Labour. MLA Kulwant Singh also graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Dr P J Singh, Managing Director (MD), Tynor Orthotics and AJ Singh, Executive Director, Tynor Orthotics were also present.
Earlier while interacting with media Dr P J Singh, Managing Director (MD), Tynor Orthotics informed that Tynor Group currently operates with a robust production capacity of ₹ 600 crore. He said that with the planned expansion through the integration of Ortech Textiles, this capacity is projected to scale up to ₹ 2,000 crore.
“This significant growth will not only strengthen our manufacturing footprint but will also create employment opportunities for an estimated 1,000 to 1,500 individuals, further contributing to regional economic development,” said Dr PJ Singh.
Dr Singh added: “The launch of Ortech Textiles marks a significant step towards complete self-reliance as this unit will eliminate dependency on imported raw materials, particularly from China. In this high end plant, we will produce top-quality technical textiles for captive use in Tynor’s orthopaedic aids’ manufacturing facilities.”
“The new plant is expected to enhance product quality by 25 per cent and reduce raw material costs also by 25 per cent, enabling the company to offer more competitive, affordable and premium-quality medical aid products both in India and globally,” Dr Singh said.
Talking to the media about growth and employment, AJ Singh, Executive Director, Tynor Orthotics, said: “With the start of manufacturing at Ortech Textiles, plans are to increase employment at Tynor Group from 2,500 to 5,000, with 1,000 jobs created through Ortech Textiles alone.”
A J Singh credited the liberal industrial policies and reforms introduced by the Punjab Government for catalyzing this large-scale investment. “We aim to bring cutting-edge technology, establish a robust R&D ecosystem, and become one of the top three orthopaedic aid manufacturers globally,” he said.
The Ortech Textiles unit houses advanced textile machinery, including circular knitting, jacquard knitting, flat knit, 3D knit, narrow fabric machines, fabrication lamination machines, and neoprene laminated fabric equipment. These capabilities will give Tynor unmatched vertical integration in the production of technical textiles and orthopaedic components.
Currently exporting to over 60 countries, Tynor is already the No. 1 brand in its product category in India and five other countries. The company has now set its sights on expanding this leadership to 100 global emerging markets.
