Chandigarh, May 30: Mooofarm, a leading provider of innovative solutions for the dairy industry, brings attention to the critical concern of maintaining the health and nutrition of cattle amidst the ongoing intense heatwave in India, coinciding with the occasion of World Milk Day.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Inderjeet Singh, former dairy development director and consultant Mooofarm said that with temperatures soaring to unprecedented levels, it is imperative to address the challenges faced by dairy farmers in ensuring the well-being of their livestock.

He further said that the heat wave sweeping across various regions in India poses significant risks to the health and productivity of cattle. Excessive heat and humidity can cause heat stress, leading to reduced milk production by up to 25%, compromised reproductive performance, and increased susceptibility to diseases, including increased risk of mastitis by 30%.

Vinesh Giri, cattle feed nutrition head Mooofarm informed that in this challenging environment, dairy farmers need access to comprehensive knowledge and actionable insights to protect their valuable livestock.

Dr Shivam Khare, nutritionist, Mooofarm said that recognizes the importance of proactive measures to support dairy farmers in combating the adverse effects of extreme weather conditions. Knowing the signs of heat stress allows farmers to take timely preventive measures, such as adjusting feeding regimes, providing adequate shade and ventilation, and managing hydration effectively. By implementing these practices, dairy farmers can minimize the negative impact on milk production and maintain the well-being of their cattle, he asserted.

Param Singh, founder & CEO of Mooofarm, said, “As we celebrate the importance of milk and dairy products in our lives, it is crucial to acknowledge the challenges faced by dairy farmers during extreme weather conditions to ensure continuity of milk output. At Mooofarm, we are committed to supporting the dairy industry by providing farmers with cutting-edge solutions to safeguard the health and productivity of their cattle. Our mission is to empower farmers with the knowledge, inputs and tools needed to overcome these challenges and ensure a sustainable dairy ecosystem.”

Mooofarm encourages collaboration among stakeholders, including dairy farmers, veterinary experts, and researchers, to develop holistic strategies for mitigating the impact of heat stress on cattle. By promoting knowledge-sharing and driving innovation, the company aims to contribute to a resilient and prosperous dairy sector in India and beyond.
